Benefits of Being Able to Accept Uncertainty

Benefits of Being Able to Accept UncertaintyTrust Yourself and adjust your action in the process

Eckhart Tolle has said, “When you become comfortable with uncertainty, infinite possibilities open up in your life.” This needs some explanation to be understood correctly.

As your True Self, you are. There is no past or future in the state of being. There are no active subconscious reactive patterns. When you are a Free Soul, there is no predetermination. You are, and there is no way of telling what happens next.

Most people live in subconscious reactive patterns. Those are predictable. Somebody says I don’t like your work input and you react. Somebody criticizes, and your mind locks down and is in the subconscious reactivity loop. It is all predictable and hugely limiting your free will. Same old habits and patterns repeat.

Tolle’s insight points to one of the most practical capacities for living as a Free Soul and making conscious decisions in the moment. That is what secures mental wellness and the ability to respond consciously in all life and work situations.

Uncertainty is a permanent feature of both personal and professional life, as everything in your mind and around your physical body has one certain rule: it changes.

Conditions change, information is often partial, roles and work itself evolve, and outcomes are rarely fully controllable. Yet many people experience uncertainty as a threat. The result is tension, narrowed reactive thinking, and emotional turmoil that in turn leads to reactive decision-making. In such a case, you often sense of being trapped.

The real limitation is rarely the fact of constant change that causes uncertainty itself.

The biggest limitation is within your mind. It is the automatic inner reaction to what happens.

Uncertainty and the Reactive Mind

When the mind is restless and overloaded, uncertainty quickly triggers strong and fluctuating subconscious reactivity. Thoughts race and, in your mind, the theoretical worst-case scenarios multiply. Then negative emotions kick in, and more reactions are triggered until everything becomes cloudy.

The result is that you are subconsciously running attention collapses into defensive loops. In this state, the nervous system treats not-knowing as danger. Creativity becomes inaccessible.

Decision-making then becomes either overly rigid or impulsively reactive.

Your calm mind is what allows you to experience a relaxed and conscious ease of being and fully responsible decision-making.

A calm-minded person meets the same uncertainty differently. Instead of being overtaken by mental noise and emotional turmoil, awareness remains present. What makes the difference is your inner power to lead awareness and sensing at will in deep inner calmness.

Consciousness is unchanged. You, as True Self, are also a silent and unchangeable being.

When you remain in contact with your silent inner level, You don’t get lost in the stream of anxious thinking and imagination or identify yourself with emotional turmoil.

Your True Self is always a silent inner state. When you know who you are and your mind is able to remain calm, the situation can be perceived more clearly.

Possibilities that were previously obscured become visible. New insights appear, intuition guides you, and creativity is fully accessible. From this conscious state can appear your ability to respond. Response ability is your power to make conscious decisions in the moment.

When you are fully present, use awareness and sensing with awareness, you can see possible conscious ways to act despite total uncertainty. This is the deeper meaning of Tolle’s words.

Comfort with uncertainty is the result of inner silence and knowing the True Self. It is freedom from the subconscious reactivity prison.

When a person no longer has a desire to control, the mind stops contracting and steps back. Then your thoughts, imagination, emotions, desires, fears, and anxiousness no longer run on autopilot mode.

You can then give up control and reactivity. Desires and fears no longer control you. When you become established and relaxed in inner silence, all anxiety fades.

In inner silence, your awareness, your sensing, your power to think and imagine, and your ability to use or let go of any emotion at will become tools. Also, your physical body is then a tool.

Your inner domain has different layers, and understanding their hierarchy will allow you to improve self-leadership.

Intrapersonal mastery to use and lead your tools with awareness is what sets you free. In inner freedom, nothing is predetermined. Everything is uncertain, and you love it as this defines your freedom.

Namely, in certainty, there is no freedom; everything is pre-determined. This is how subconscious reactions and habits limit you. What happened to you once becomes an endless repetition loop with some variations.

History never repeats exactly, but due to human subconscious reactive conditioning often rhymes. Similarities in a subconsciously reactive persons patters are always visible, provided you are the quiet observer.

Active Use of Awareness and Sensing in Securing Mental Wellness

Awareness is the capacity to notice what is happening in your inner domain — thoughts, emotions, bodily tension, and habitual reactions — without immediately being controlled by them. Awareness also allows you to become aware of what is going on around you.

Consciousness in static form is identical to the True Self. Just Being. Being is. There is no practical aspect to Being.

There is no story. You Are. Consciousness is.

True Self has three properties that are the absolute truth:

  1. You Are
  2. You Know You Are
  3. There is a certain graceful, ever-flowing energy that allows You to Exist and you notice its flow. In India, they call it Ananda. It could be described as a graceful Self-Love.

In that sense, Being is. There is no practical aspect to it, and it in itself does not need meaning. In this perspective, the search for the meaning of life is wasted time. Life Is. You Are.

However, leading awareness with awareness and using awareness to lead the other silent power, sensing, is what sets you free to act in uncertainty.

Relaxed responding is freedom. The game of life unfolds endlessly. No one is playing with you. Life just is, in essence, playful and ever-changing. You, as True Self, are the stable and unchanging observer.

This observer has total freedom in uncertainty to act or not to act.

In that sense, freedom to think is only partial freedom. The concept of “I think, therefore I am” is a huge lie.

In reality, You Are. You should have the power to think and not to think. When you can be in inner silence, You know: I Am.

In a practical sense, it is the ability to remain fully present. In essence, that means remaining a silent observer or choosing in the inner silence your power to use your awareness, sensing, thoughts, imagination, emotions, and physical body as tools to act consciously.

Responsibility is the power to use your intrapersonal tools and physical body as a vehicle to do what is relevant to the situation where your physical body is at the very moment.

When you become identified with your mental commentary, imagination, or emotional reactivity, you lose direct knowledge of the True Self. That wrong identification is limiting, as then subconsciously learned patterns that cause inner reactivity take over.

In life, you always have just two options: using reactivity or responsibility.

A person who can notice reactivity, as it arises, already has a bit more choice than the fully reactive person who lacks the ability to respond consciously.

The less you are driven by automatic subconscious patterns, the more freedom you have. Inner silence is what secures full freedom to respond consciously according to the actual situation.

However, there is also partial freedom, where you lead yourself freely in some situations but drop the contact with the True Self and calm decision-making power in other situations.

The calmer your mind becomes, the more inner freedom appears. The more whole you are.

Calmness or the appearance of inner silence is where you can restore the knowledge of Your True Self. When you actively know who you are, awareness becomes your inner tool.

The Power of Intrapersonal Skills

Awareness-based intrapersonal skills are the inner abilities that allow a person to lead their own inner processes, including all mental and emotional processes at will.

Awareness-based intrapersonal skills include the capacity to notice, understand, and direct awareness at will. Accessing intuition, insights, and creativity is what adds a huge power to find solutions, no matter what the situation.

Intrapersonal skills allow You to regulate, mobilize, adapt, and restore all your inner resources. When these skills are developed, and you can use them with a calm mind, uncertainty loses its power to destabilize You.

The power of using awareness, sensing, thinking, imagination, and emotions at will allows you to remain functional, clear, and constructive even when external conditions are incomplete or changing.

Absolute freedom is when nothing external or internal (subconscious thinking, imagination, emotion, desire, fear or anxiousness) triggers You. Absolute freedom is when you take full responsibility. Ability to respond is here, just using your conscious choice to act or not to act. Both need to exist.

Responsibility = Freedom – Kaur Lass delivering the keynote speech in Belgrade, March 25th 2026

When there is no freedom not to act, then there is reactivity appears. As a result, your subconscious patterns are triggered, and your freedom is (partially) lost.

Securing Mental Wellness Proactively

Mental wellness, in this context, isn’t the power to be well in the absence of challenge. It is the presence of inner capacity to remain well even under pressure.

A calm mind supports conscious use of thinking and imagination and allows you to lead any emotion at will.

Only when you are present in your body and use awareness and sensing can a clear understanding appear. Resilience is a natural outcome of having a calm mind and lovingly taking radical responsibility.

Leading all processes within your mind with awareness is what has the power to reduce stress before it becomes chronic and also protects against the slow accumulation of pressure and exhaustion that leads to burnout.

Uncertainty in the Context of Work

In professional life, uncertainty is unavoidable. That is the truth, as everything around us is constantly changing. The hope to eliminate all uncertainty is false hope.

The power to lead processes within and around you as they unfold is where your power is. The desire to control everything, on the other hand, is subconscious. Full control is fiction.

No Free Soul aims to secure control. True Self is, and as a Human Being you have the power to use conscious choice. How? As needed in the unfolding of life and work situations. As needed should be seen in the context of your conscious vision where you aim to move.

Visions should be long-term, but strategies for achieving the vision need to be adjusted according to actual life.

Now in the AI age, information flows grow, and you need to accept that information is often incomplete. AI makes errors and often hides those by trying to please you.

While automation and correct programming allow outcomes in an ideal situation to be controlled, errors can appear when something changes, and inputs are no longer the same. So we still need humans to understand if things are correct.

Leaders and people who lack intrapersonal skills for personal leadership often aim for excessive control, constant urgency, or defensive decision-making instead of looking to understand what is happening in the present moment.

The result of this is that work culture becomes tense and relations toxic. When control is rigid, overregulation and subconscious mental and emotional patterns kick in, and access to creativity and intuition, as well as freedom to act and take responsibility, declines.

It leads to the situation where people spend more energy dealing with stress and anxiety than solving problems. When you add dysfunctional management and subconscious reactivity, work relations become draining and often even extremely toxic. As a result, people burn out, get depressed and resign.

By contrast, leaders who have cultivated awareness and inner calmness create a different environment. They are able to acknowledge uncertainty without transmitting panic and waves of subconscious reactions.

They can hold open questions long enough for better options to emerge. They listen with awareness, notice possible trade-offs more clearly, and avoid premature conclusions driven by discomfort.

This capacity has practical consequences.

Teams led by people who remain calm-minded under uncertainty tend to be open-minded and notice and communicate possible risks earlier. When there is no fear and allowance to make errors and learn from them, people can adapt and adjust.

Psychological safety, in such open minded and supportive workplace, increases because people aren’t managing the leader’s and colleagues’ constant reactivity in addition to all the external challenges. In such conditions, collaboration improves, and better solutions become possible.

Intrapersonal skills are therefore not just private freedom, but also add power to use professional and wellness-securing tools. They are the ultimate performance and employee engagement securing capabilities.

The ability to remain fully aware, regulate one’s inner state, and respond consciously directly affects decision quality, communication, and the capacity to navigate complexity.

From Reactivity to Conscious Response

The shift Tolle describes is fundamentally a shift from reactivity to conscious response. All reactivity is always subconscious and automatic. It is driven by habit, fear, and both mental and emotional noise.

Conscious response requires awareness. It requires enough inner space to see what is happening and to choose how to meet it. It demands being fully present in your physical body and using awareness and sensing as silent-level tools. Then, you can also use thinking, imagination, and emotions as tools.

You are no longer triggered, but you can always respond and love your superpower to take full responsibility.

In inner level, this doesn’t mean suppressing emotions and fighting with negative thoughts or emotions in your inner domain, as this is what causes reactivity.

On the outer level, this doesn’t mean suppressing concern or pretending that risks don’t exist. It means relating to uncertainty from a more stable inner foundation. From that foundation, action becomes consciously led and precise.

It leads to noticing suitable timing and using opportunities that appear in the moment. This opens up abundance. Energy that was previously consumed by mental resistance becomes available for clear conscious decisions and constructive effort, both on the individual and team level.

Challenges still arise, but they no longer automatically define one’s inner state. A greater sense of agency appears. Possibilities that once seemed unavailable become accessible because the mind is no longer closed around fear of the unknown.

Cultures that treat uncertainty as a personal failing or demand permanent certainty push people toward reactivity. Cultures that value conscious action and thinking, honest and open-minded communication, and mental wellness make it easier for people to remain steady.

When leaders model calm awareness, they permit others to do the same.

Opening to Possibility

When you become comfortable with uncertainty, the field of possibility expands. This isn’t mystical; instead, it is a result of psychological safety and training of the intrapersonal skills.

A mind that is not occupied with fighting for the status quo and is capable of accepting the unknown has more capacity to perceive, combine, and act.

The result of using awareness and intrapersonal skills is clear: Creativity increases, adaptability improves, trust flows, and human relations flourish. In such a situation, work and life integration becomes more natural, aiming for both individual and collective harmony that leads to the ease of visionary leadership based on conscious decision-making.

This leads to the flow, trusted partnerships, innovation, and co-creation of solutions that are pro-life and can improve our personal and environmental sustainability.

Summary

In the external world, where there is just one certainty, which is change, the ability to use awareness and awareness-based intrapersonal skills allows conscious decisions.

The calm mind is what secures your connection to silent and steady layers. Knowing who you are and using intrapersonal skills at will is one of the easiest and most sustainable ways to secure mental wellness.
